yul
hey hey. We have full snow here in London for the first time in 11 years I was here!
8:30 am
yul
streets look deserted and beutiful
8:30 am
yul
very beautiful
8:31 am
drwho
There is big pile of snow outside my front door, about 4 feet high.
8:32 am
drwho
Since it was mostly put there by me, shoveling my drive way and walk, I tend not to notice how beautiful it is.
8:34 am

When I lived in Moscow, I was commuting to college every day. It was in the forest and I had to walk through the snow pass with the snow high up to my waist in some places. Not fun
8:37 am
drwho
We had about 3 feet of snow in one day about 12 years ago. I walked to the grocery store the next day, like you said, there was snow up to my waist too.
8:38 am
drwho
We normally get all the snow cleared off the roads and walks very quickly, but 30+ inches of snow changes is a different matter.
8:38 am
drwho
Oops, delete *changes*.
8:41 am
yul
I think it's a nationwide disaster in UK at the mo. Trains are not running and cars are colliding
8:42 am
drwho
They are not prepared because it is so rare that they get so much snow.
8:44 am
yul
I wasn't prepared myself.
8:44 am
drwho
We see the problems Washington D.C. is having with all the snow they got this winter and laugh. It's nothing to us, but they are like London, unprepared.
8:45 am
drwho
In fact, quite a few southern states are seeing more snow than usual this winter.
8:46 am
drwho
A lot of people must be wondering what happened to global warming.
8:47 am
yul
At least it's will be good for nature things. They will wake up clean
8:51 am
drwho
Yes, its natural.
8:56 am
yul
this sudoku is very easy.
8:56 am
Inge
Yul, why were you living in Russia? Just for study or what?
8:57 am
Inge
by the way, I can get autogreen again! Go figure!
8:58 am
drwho
Inge, it is probably because you closed your browser before you went to bed last night and opened a new instance today.
9:00 am
drwho
I don't think your problems were related to the IronSudoku website, they were javascript problems.
9:00 am
Inge
my sudoku site is fragile. Some of the time it says "tomorow's puzzle willbe available in one minute"
9:00 am
yul
I am Russian/British. I live in the UK now. But I was born and finished school and college in Russia
9:02 am
yul
Russia is the most surreal country, even if you live there every day it bewilders you
9:02 am
Inge
Ever heard of the pianist Alexander Ghindin? I saw him win the Cleveland Intern. Piano Competition two years ago. Currently he does concerts in the USA.
9:03 am
drwho
The IronSudoku website runs javascript on your browser. Every 15 seconds the script wakes up and checks with the server to get an update on the chatterbox and the time for the next puzzle.
9:03 am
yul
No, but there are so many very good music schools there..
9:04 am
Inge
In 2001 I took a Baltic cruise with a long stop in St. Petergsburg. That is all I know of Russia. Our daughter (als a sudokuer) majored in Russian at U. Of Minn and is studying Russian hstory at UNVLV (las Vegas)
9:05 am
drwho
So, running autogreen injects some more javascript code into your browser. If there is a typo in your autogreen code it could cause strange problems.
9:05 am
yul
St Petersburg is amazing...
9:07 am
Inge
I meant *also* a sudokuer
9:08 am
Inge
Dr Who, thanks for the explanation, but I am not a technical nerd. YOu are leaving me behind
9:13 am
yul
My granddad was one of engineers who build a DneproGES and StalingradGES. GES is an abbreviation of an equivalent of 'electric power station' If your daughter have an interest in Stalingrad and electrification of Russia, I would be happy to help, Inge
9:24 am
Inge
I will ask her. Actually she is looking for a thesis topic right now. Get this! My new internist is enarmored with Stalingrad. He keeps dreaming of its skyline!
9:25 am
drwho
Inge, the short of it is, next time it happens, try closing your browser and restarting it.
9:27 am
Inge
thanks Dr. Who, I will do that.
9:34 am
Inge
I will now email Sydaria, my daughter. Incidentally Eyeman is A.Ghindin's agent
9:45 am

I was living across the river from Volgograd (Stalingrad) for 15 years. I went to school in Volzhski, it's a smaller town across Volga river built to house Electric power station personnel. Now it got around 300 000 population and several massive factories there.
9:47 am
