the race was a bit rough, but had fun

but as i learned today, there was some dude that had a heart attack running the same race

this race is notorious for giving people heart attacks, there is a hill in the third mile(of 6.2) called cardiac hill, earning its name when some dude had a heart attack after running up it, and with 55,000 participants this year, its a wonder only one person had a heart attack

I appreciate physical fitness and exercise, but a long run in the heat of Georgia does sound a bit crazy.

they shut down a 6 lane road, and have to release us in groups, to the point where the last group starts 1 hr 20 min after the first people, its the largest 10k in the world

I dunno, once I saw people in northern Michigan cutting holes in the ice on the big lakes to go swimming - I think folks everywhere are tetched. It ain't just GA :P

penguin, ya the heat is a bit crazy in general, but im used to running in the heat of the day(around 3 - 4 PM) as opposed to 7:30 AM when this race started

Being a Wisconsinite, I understand a winter dip in a lake. It is fairly easy to warm up afterwards (and rather fun to do so with the right company).

Andy, I have to agree with bang. Running during the heat of the day in Hotlanta is nuts.

I, too, ran high school cross country. Of course, with my knees, that is no longer possible. (I jog in place on a rebounder to get my exercise most days).

Oh, us old fogies still dream about doing things like that. Then, if we are smart, we exercise in the ways that we still can. I can still do more pushups or situps than most of my teenage students. 8-)

thats one inferences, but then you have to make two more inferences based on that one, to finally get to a spot you can fill in, and then it just flows from there

and they wouldn't give it.

I filed a freedom of information request, won the first appeal, but lost at the Supreme Court after the city didn't accept the first appeal

well, they claim it is public information, but getting it in computer format is "value added", therefore costs money :)

Ordnance Survey are well dodgy, everyone knows that. It's not what's on the maps, it's what omitted!

maps are stories we tell about the places around us. current maps tell the story of a civilization that can only live with cars... pedestrians don't figure as well, nor do cyclists. but you can't use the OS data and modify it without infringing - or paying large licenses

why would you need to modify it? new architecture and that sort of thing?

well, if you wanted to publish a cycling map... you'd need to buy a license. that's a modification to the computer data that produces the map - and you couldn't distribute that either

i'm seeing that at the drive in theatre tomorrow

$8 per car load of people

According to the ticket, the movie actually starts at 12:01 AM

My benefit is, I already am know I have a ticket, that is the only advantage

I actually watched it this morning. I have a habbit of watching prequels of the movie I'm going to see.

A lot of good movies come out next year. For example, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Ghost Rider, Spiderman 3, Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, just to name a few

i have really enjoyed all the spidey movies. i never read the comics/graphic novels, but my comic-reading friends tell me that the movies are faithful to the story
