i think missing-digit scan is my weakness - it doesnt really occur to me until i see something missing in the greens...

Same here. The greens make me feel pretty dumb sometimes.

wellp - at least we can get-them-done. a crutch is still useful if it allows someone mobility... :)

What I don't understand is that I am much more likely to need greens on an "easy" than a "medium". "plateau"

lol - if i get stuck, it only takes a couple of greens to spot something in an easy. mediums seems to require more filling in... i think im currently at a dont-need-greens-for-easy-plateau tho... :::knocks wood:::

mediums always seem to have a choke-point that if you cant find that answer - you get stuck. hards and above, you dont expect any easy-finds... imnsho... :)

yeah. Redeemed myself finally. For me, this medium was hard.

Difficulty score 23. Much harder than yesterday's, in my opinion. At about the half way point things opened up.

maybe I'm braindead this morning, but it took greens. However, the first column scan through the greens showed a couple of hidden pairs that cleared the entire board.

Hi adquilt, Good choice. I don't recommend spending as much time as I do in the archives. My wife is getting suspicious.

My husband already knows I'm addicted. I keep a book in my purse just in case I get stuck somewhere and have a few spare minutes. I was given a handheld, but never got the hang of it. Which I find strange, since I love doing the puzzles online.

I got a hendheld too, and I have trouble reading it. Once you pass 50 the eyes start to go, among other things.

Hey, I'm a few short of the big 50, but I'm having both knees replaced next week. My eyes seem to be doing pretty good though!

Luckily that surgery isn't a big deal any more. My neighbor just had his done and walking the next day. Amazing. Another friend plays tennis everyday on his new knees.

This is crazy; I'm working a medium from the archives, with 15 unknowns filled in, and I'm so stuck I may have to start guessing.

Got it finally. I discovered a new technique involving groups of four numbers in rows of five cells. No guessing.

It was May 4, 2006. I finally solved it but I had to guess. There is probably something I missed. Let me know if you figure it out.

Try the 2s they are easy. I got them 1st.

spreadeagle - on 5/4/06 puzzle: can't seem to see a way past guessing. I even pulled out my paper template to see if I could do it better on paper - didn't help at all! Think I'll just save it and come back to it in a few days. It's reached the point where it isn't fun anymore!
