There is absolutely nothing wrong with using the greens. And guessing is also a legitimate solving technique.

TallMike - Using greens is just the electronic equivalent of putting in small numbers with a pencil or pen when solving Sudoku on paper. I use them if I need them. This is not a
competition - it is just for fun. I have seen Sudoku competitions - and most competitors use "green", i.e. they write down the possibilities.
