spreadeagle
I like to hope my biggest problem of each day is solving the daily puzzle.
7:02 am
hurshy
i'll give you an amen back for that one :)
7:02 am
hurshy
specially as i am pretty darn sure it is NOT going to be my biggest prob today.
7:03 am
spreadeagle
Then again, I am an engineer. If there were no problems I wouldn't have a job.
7:03 am
hurshy
lol - that's looking on the bright side!

When the archives first opened up I ran through them all. It was great fun, but now I'm back to one a day...sigh.

eagle, I think I just need to do this when after I've been up for an hour or so, if I want to be fast.
7:47 am
spreadeagle
I have the same problem when I stumble out of bed and go straight to my computer. Which is most days.
7:51 am
smooth_pappa
lol I can completely empathize. lol
7:54 am
spreadeagle
I'm a light sleeper. My wife snores. It's not unusual for me to be up at 4am "working".
7:56 am
smooth_pappa
oh man! I just took a promotion at work which requires me to wake up at about 7:00 am now... This is the first time I've worked morning hours since 2001. and then, it was only filling in somewhere for a few months
7:57 am
smooth_pappa
4:00 doesn't exist as a concious hour in my world. lol
7:58 am
spreadeagle
I "retired" 15 years ago at age 35 and became self-employed because I worked too many hours for not enough pay. Now, I work all the time for no pay.
8:00 am
smooth_pappa
lol not that i' complaining about my job, but that early I think would take a LONG time for me to acclimate to. I also have a "side business" of photography, but it doesn't really bring in much money...
8:00 am
smooth_pappa
whoops... gotta run, comapny's here... (at 8 in the morning? yeesh!)

dkin
spreadeagle what sort of engineer? i'm just about to graduate
5:07 pm
spreadeagle
EE Clemson '79.
5:07 pm
spreadeagle
What school?
5:08 pm
dkin
I'm irish trinity college dublin
5:10 pm
spreadeagle
Cool. The EE field has changed since I came thru. Now it doesn't pay to work for a big company. You are better off working for a small firm as a PE until you can afford to open your own PE firm.
5:11 pm
spreadeagle
PE = professional engineer
5:12 pm
dkin
Ok I've already applied to analog and intel but yeah I'm planning on striking it rich some day with my own company
5:13 pm
spreadeagle
At least that's true in the US. The big companies don't provide the benefits and security they once did.
5:14 pm
dkin
I'd say its good for a few years (maybe two/three) for their training and the industry experience
5:15 pm
spreadeagle
There are many fields within EE. I was into industrial power applications along with some power distribution. The whole electronic field is wide open if you're into design at that level.
5:16 pm
spreadeagle
I've got company. I'll be back.
10:44 pm
Andy
I agree. I screwed this up somewhere
