Phil, it's a game of LOGIC, not a game of memory. Going green does not negate the need for LOGIC to solve the puzzle.....going without green only challenges the memory in addition to the logic. (My comment does not address guessing). Just saying....

Phil: With 6,719 points and an Expert ranking on this board, you have a lot more experience than most of us, and so I think you already know how to improve your Sudoku abilities. If you want to learn more advanced techniques, there are plenty of ways to do that, including teaching yourself (with lots of time, thought and patience), visiting other websites that explain Sudoku methods, and reading books. If you are feeling frustrated, that's great because it may motivate you to push yourself harder - but it can also get in the way of clear thinking. Focus instead on thinking, studying, learning, experimenting, analyzing, etc., and you may amaze yourself. Good luck!
