What liberties do American enjoy because we can all purchase assault weapons?

I find the assault on the 4th Amendment far more frightening. Headline from the Washington Post: "After Orlando, Senate bill seeks to allow FBI web searches without court order"

Diane, I agree with you about the Fourth Amendment. It's terrifying to see it ripped to shreds. It's a reason I can't call myself a Democrat; I'm socially liberal but they're complicit in creating this horrible state of affairs where police can pull people over, steal their cash, cars, and other belongings, and there is no recourse.
And I find it baffling that the same groups who fight like fury for the Second Amendment stand by quietly, or even approve and participate, when there's legislation that erodes our other rights.
It's as if the worst possible combination of authoritarianism and toxic masculinity is running the country.

Is it really masculinity, SamanthaJoy, that drives toxic behavior by powerful politicians? What about the power grabbing, self serving politicians who happen to be female? Is their behavior also rooted in toxic masculinity? That doesn't make any sense to me.
What really matters is for people to keep close watch on what their governments are doing and to take effective counter measures when necessary. To me, the concept of toxic masculinity is a divisive distraction from that focus.
However if you want to follow a gender biased path, good luck to you. Maybe we are following different routes towards the same goal.
