Really interesting talk this morning by a Dr on the radio regarding a major international study into life expectancy around the world. Correlation was not linked to expenditure on healthcare, much more to do with the fairness in the societies and government spending on health and education and other social programs. Basically the wider the life expectancy between low income and high income was narrowest in those countries. Sweden I think came out on top, Australia around number 5 and the US at 17.

Terrible explanation, sorry but you'll probably get the gist of it.

The problem is exactly what this video explains. The reality is far removed from the perception in the U.S.

Tuco - I tried to get to your link, as well. Page not found. I tried the main quora site, but it's too intrusive from a privacy standpoint for me.

There are 2 \n in the link below. When I cut and pasted the link below into my browser and then removed both \n it worked for me.

There is a unique rectangle, very much open at both ends, and yet you can still exploit it. Interesting.

...I take that back. I made a mistake.

tuco - you're right, I didn't get the 2nd \n. I wish it would be updated with 2015-16 figures - I bet it would be skewed even more.

tuco, it worked with the second /n removed.

the study on our radio was about life expectancy. Similar lessons could be drawn. Also I was reading today on a BBC website about how we have halved the cervical cancer rate in Australia http://www.bbc.com/news/world-australia-37211\n349 always good to get an opinion from another country. What was also revealing was that although so successful around the world particularly in the UK and Australia where it is freely administered to girls at school, the take up rate in the US is really low. Is it because the US still has a bias against women in so many areas I wonder.

I'd love to hear from a Swede. They seem to have a better understanding of what the meaning of life is. How has it come about and are there any downsides?
