KnightTime, I didn't say you were a victim. Indeed, I noted that some people - a minority - are able to overcome serious financial deprivations. Most are not, so good on you. But you - and others here - are so incredibly misinformed. Do you think that private colleges receive no government funding? Do you have any idea what % of K-12 education is solely property-tax funded? I also suspect you're a white male, with its inherent advantages. The fact remains that the US is the wealthiest country in the world, with one of the lowest tax rates in the world, yet we have people who are without medical care, food, shelter, or hope. We should be ashamed of ourselves.

O yeah, I'm white and a male and proud of it. No shame here. I did not choose my parents or my race or my sex or the country in which I was born or even the poverty I was born into - God did. If you don't believe in God, then nature and genetics and random luck did. Why should I be ashamed of something over which I had NO CONTROL. The fact is you know nothing about me. I could be a liar. I could be a black homosexual transgendered woman. You just assume that because I am white I have no empathy or make no effort to help others. You assume that because I disagree with you politically that I am evil. But I know better. I live better. I do better. And I will not have even a scintilla of shame for what I am.
