actually I'm probably in way over my head but - what the heck!

Actually, easy or expert doesn't matter much. Just start and trust there is always a place where you can go on. Only this one wil take longer, LOL!

aw, that's sweet, but I think you may grossly overestimate my talents :)

Not really sure how they're determined. I found a puzzle creation tool, so I trust the author of it knows what he's doing. :)

I think difficulty depends on how much is given. And on how many steps you need to reason out before putting a new number in place.

Ah. Game theory and algorithms and all that yummy stuff.

:) I really don't care, I must admit. I am always having a lot of fun with these kind of puzzles. They are so ultimately logical and make me realise how often I am anything but ;)

Almost. Easy and Medium puzzles are about twice as likely as Hard and Expert puzzles.

I was more complaining about the difficulty with the left-click space-bar issue (no pencil marks boo hoo). Although I also thought the color scheme was ugly. BTW, Dr_God, I *love* the lime green background here.

I can usually reason it out without having to mentally "fill in" numbers until it goes wrong. 22 to fill in on this one....

Sometimes, however, my logic is 'illogical'. For those times, it would be nice to wipe out everything that's wrong and try again.

But, I guess such an 'undo' button could mess up the rankings.

gwenski - just save when you're sure you're right so far, and then when you want to wipe the wrong things, log out and log back in

I kind of agree with tuco. It was hard, but not "Expert" level IMO. I was expecting near impossibility.

I don't create the puzzles though, so I have no control over the validity of the difficulty.

I have noticed though that sometimes I get stumped on easier puzzles and sometimes I can breeze through the harder ones. I guess it depends on how you are that day.

there is another version of sudoku i play where the numbers you start out with are a different color than the ones you put in... it is helpful for when you're trying to figure out where your mistakes are (re: people asking for undo buttons etc.)

or, the way ive done it -- the last save i have are only numbers that i know 100% are right. then i play around from there...if i dont like what ive done, i just refresh and it wipes out the work i did after the last save, leaving me with the work i know is right...

i8, you may want to print the puzzle and start that way.

any chance of adding a feature to automatically remove/fill multiple pencil marks? like a method for removing all red pencilmarks or filling an entire row/colum with a certain one?

zikes: to remove extra pencil marks, just add the correct number. ;-)

acheekymonkey: I start by filling in every box with the appropriate red marks, then go back and fill in with the appropriate green. Having all 9 marks filled helps me make sure I've not missed any boxes.

but every time I put in the correct number I have to go through and manually change each one, it gets a bit tedious with the current setup

zikes: i was just teasing you (aka being unhelpful.) But with that method, you definitely need quick add/remove of pencil marks

even if it's a "clear all red pencil marks" button that'd be a big help, since i go back through and clear the reds out before I actually start solving it

if it removed marks based on a correct entry, that would help a lot

gah, so close to having that mass pencilmarking thing done only to hit a big stumbling block

I only solved this one by looking ahead on the 4/9 naked pairs in the bottom left cube. It would be nice to have coloring - I worked around the lack of coloring by using the pencilmarks and then clearing them when I ran into a self-consistency problem on the first choice. Did anyone solve it without using lookahead?

That 4/9 is one of the two things annoying me the most. :o

Once you get that you're done. In Simple Sudoku you can use the colors to reach a logical self-inconsistency and then choose the other path.

It would be nice to play the archives even if they don't count towards your ranking.

Hurrah! I finished (this is my first time here). I was wondering... I ended up working in IE, even though Firefox is my browser of choice, because FF was... flashing is the word, I guess. Just around the puzzle. It was driving me out of my mind, so I had to change browsers

1.5 it is, I guess. Especially since there are the good scripts for it. Have you saved, Jordan, cause if so it should just be able to be reopened.

Ahhh, well then, since I just started, I have not a clue :)

BTW, a tip for anyone who ends up resorting to guessing for a few rows... I really used the different colors a lot, where I used the small green numbers as I normally do, and then made my guesses ("If I put a 1 here, then this should be this..." etc.) in red. I don't know if that makes any sense to anyone else. I don't usually have to do that, but I did on this puzzle.

Yeah, I know... I'm so bad. The small numbers are great though. I always make them when I am doing puzzles on paper, so they would drive me nuts not to have them.

yeah, there's tons of online sudoku sites, but if they don't let me make little marks, they're useless

Yeah, I ended up with about 10 squares left and I just needed one to make them all work. I couldn't believe that I couldn't find the odd one out. That's when I decided just to try filling one in and see what happened.
