Tonight, I get to sit up all night watching for water coming in to my basement and being ready with the pump and shop-vac. YAY.

Shouldn't be too bad... looking ike 3-4" rain total. That's JUST enough to start coming in. In Oct '05, when we had 7" in one night after a week of nonstop rain, we got 5" water in our basement. THAT was no fun.

We're on a hill so the only flooding we're subject to is basement. Now, Reservoir Ave down the hill (and Oaklawn behind us on the other side of the hill) are different stories...

My first house - got 2 feet of water in the basement one year. The power went out and a friend of mine was swimming in it. He was nuts.

Yeah, my wife thought I was insane when I walked through the water to kill the circuit breaker for the whole house. There were extension cords lying in the water.
