Finally got it. No greens. Needed pairs. I was savoring being on the top row of the newbies, but it looks like I'll be moving to the bottom of the regulars.

Unique rectangles, conjugate chains, x wings... what a wonderful puzzle for Saturday morning.

an x wing solves the conjugate chain (and the puzzle)

neither of which I understand, but that's ok!!!!

Difficulty score 30. I think that is too high. I found it very easy. Only techniques required are cross-hatching and virtual cross-hatching. No X-wings or other exotic strategies required.

Hmmm, I will keep trying...

Consider the upper right block and the lower left blocks. If you fill in a number in the top row, bottom row or the 1st or 9th columns, they could limit the potential locations of that digit in the 2 blocks to only 2 cells in a row.

Then you can use that fact to do virtual cross-hatching.

I just found a couple of 9s I had missed. Things are moving again.

I think the 9s were the first that I finished.

I could really use another 5

Once you get one 5, you get the rest pretty quickly.

It's funny to read how everyone else solved it - 9's first and trying to find the 4's and 5's... I had to have solved it in a totally different way.

I found the 2's first.

I did my first sudoku all by myself!!!

a little slow starting, but finished very quickly with no greens. Basic crosshatching didn't work, it needed some deduction -- for me it was the 2s that opened it all up
