hi, everyone
2:36 am
moedog

was worried for a while, but eventually worked an end loose.
5:05 am
sprite

must have started out in the right place, because it was totally easy. Only cross hatching needed.
6:25 am
e84

wow, once you get started it's completely easy
6:36 am
peternl

hi all
6:41 am
peternl

yep, pretty easy
7:27 am
smooth_pappa

looks like an interesting pattern
7:27 am
smooth_pappa

UnikeTheHunter

I like the pattern.

It's funny how some days it takes me ages to do an Easy... yet today I managed this one quite quickly!!!
10:17 am
HKK

and it's medium!
10:17 am
UnikeTheHunter

I've been taking a very long time on this one.

UnikeTheHunter

And I've made two mistakes.

Finally got it. No greens. Needed pairs. I was savoring being on the top row of the newbies, but it looks like I'll be moving to the bottom of the regulars.

OrangeSlice

Unique rectangles, conjugate chains, x wings... what a wonderful puzzle for Saturday morning.
11:34 am
mamabear

yikes! Orange's comments are scaring me.... too early in the morning to conjugate
11:35 am
OrangeSlice

an x wing solves the conjugate chain (and the puzzle)
11:43 am
mamabear

neither of which I understand, but that's ok!!!!
11:50 am
drwho

Difficulty score 30. I think that is too high. I found it very easy. Only techniques required are cross-hatching and virtual cross-hatching. No X-wings or other exotic strategies required.
11:51 am
spreadeagle

Hi Doc, did you need greens? I have 14 filled and I am resisting the urge to go green.
11:51 am
drwho

No green.
11:52 am
spreadeagle

Hmmm, I will keep trying...
11:53 am
drwho

Consider the upper right block and the lower left blocks. If you fill in a number in the top row, bottom row or the 1st or 9th columns, they could limit the potential locations of that digit in the 2 blocks to only 2 cells in a row.
11:53 am
drwho

Then you can use that fact to do virtual cross-hatching.
11:54 am
spreadeagle

I just found a couple of 9s I had missed. Things are moving again.
11:57 am
drwho

I think the 9s were the first that I finished.
11:58 am
spreadeagle

I could really use another 5
11:58 am
drwho

Once you get one 5, you get the rest pretty quickly.
12:11 pm
spreadeagle

AHA!
12:15 pm
spreadeagle

Yes! Done, no greens!
12:17 pm
spreadeagle

The 4 in the bottom row broke it loose.
12:33 pm
Zugzug7

interesting looking puzzle. no outside edges
12:34 pm
Zugzug7

go
12:48 pm
Zugzug7

done. not too difficult
12:49 pm
itzie

I just finished too. No greens!
12:49 pm
itzie

It's funny to read how everyone else solved it - 9's first and trying to find the 4's and 5's... I had to have solved it in a totally different way.
12:50 pm
itzie

I found the 2's first.
3:14 pm
Inge

I did my first sudoku all by myself!!!
3:29 pm
spellacked

a little slow starting, but finished very quickly with no greens. Basic crosshatching didn't work, it needed some deduction -- for me it was the 2s that opened it all up
