Even seriously irritating sometimes. Being shot as a human right. Then going brole because you cannot afford to be insured fort the medical aid that follows it.

Or cherrypick on one statistic so that youcan ignore all the evidence that the US is gun sick.

Or destroying scientific evidence and instruments so that you can ignore the scientific evidence that does not suit your political aims.

Here is the crux of the whole problem in my beloved country. President Lyndon B. Johnson once said, "If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you." I would add, if you engage in a behavior that is dangerous for you and others, but it is profitable for an industry that you do. Then you have a Constitutional right to be an A-hole and fight every attempt to regulate that behavior no matter how many people it kills.

MrO I would agree about Mme Curie, but she is not the only one to have won more than one Nobel. :-) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Nobel_\nlaureates_with_multiple_Nobel_awards

dr who, the rest of the industrialized world does not have the serious gun problems we do. Las Vegas, Texas, Sandy Hook simply don't happen in the rest of the world. Doesn't that tell you something? Did you know that 91% of ALL children killed by guns in higher income countries are killed in the US??????

There are too many freaking firearms in circulation in the US. Almost anyone can obtain virtually any kind of firearm. See piece in today's NYT for easy reference. Why one would feel the need to own an instrument death is unclear to me - but then I enjoy a fairly paranoia-free life. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/07/world/amer\nicas/mass-shootings-us-international.html?emc\n=edit_nn_20171107&nl=morning-briefing&nlid=78\n131762&te=1
