Yeah KnightTime, right? :P mab I will try. No promises though.

@drwho - you keep repeating all those lies and fallacies over and over again. Yeah, we know them by now. They are not supported by science, they are not supported by facts.

Phil
Oh drwho, are you being sarcastic or do you really hold those views? The sea is big enough already, raising it up is a nightmare scenario. Maybe because you live in a cold place and don't experience daytime temperatures over 100F you have no concept of our inability to cool ourselves. Far easier to put on extra clothes. The fact is, increasing the overall temp has seen more extreme hot and cold weather patterns and vast tracts of damage to fragile ecosystems like coral that minor temperatures affect greatly. What we should be doing is stopping the deforestation and planting more plants. It is almost impossible to think of the world getting cooler. What we need to do is stop it getting warmer.

Phil, I'm increasingly convinced that drwho and others are simply trolling the rest of us. No way can they be that ignorant.
6:01 am
angieplumptit
We can forgive ignorance. Stupidity, well...

tuco
hmm Don't know whether to be upset or not about the firing of Tillerson. "May you live in interesting times."

We knew it was coming, tuco. just didn't know when. With this North Korea thing happening, I think it was inevitable. He and Trump certainly weren't on the same path vis a vis Kim Jong-Un.
8:44 am
tuco
Or on supporting our ally England on calling out Russia for the assassination attempt in London.
8:47 am
dorens
Kind of wonder who Trump thinks our ally is - Great Britain or Russia?
8:48 am
tuco
I think he has made that pretty clear.
8:55 am
tuco
Kind of a big deal however, Sec of State is 4th in line of POTUS succession.
8:56 am
tuco
sorry mab. :-( going dark now.

drwho
Isn't group think wonderful. And I wonder who the bullies are, could it be the people who tell those of us who don't go along with group think we are ignorant stupid liars who should shut up and go away?
9:46 am
drwho
And let's not forget that if we don't agree with their gun control solution we are guilty of mass murder!
9:48 am
drwho
MrO, if all the carbon locked up in fossil fuels didn't originally come from the atmosphere, where did it come from?
9:54 am
tuco
https://www.google.com/search?q=where+did+ear\nths+carbon+come+from
9:56 am
drwho
Excelent tuco, except how did it get into the biosphere without getting into the atmosphere?
9:57 am
drwho
At times in the past earth was much warmer and apparently plant and animal life thrived.
10:00 am
drwho
I'm baffled who so many otherwise bright people can believe that we can predict the earth's climate 100 years from now and we still can't get tomorrow's weather forecast right.
10:00 am
tuco
Yes it did. However in that past the presence and balance of CO2 and other chemicals in the atmosphere was conducive to their thriving. This is known from ice core samples which expose the state of the atmosphere at a given time.
10:01 am
drwho
So why wouldn't that work today?
10:02 am
tuco
Because the past never had the levels of CO2 and other pollutants we have today that are toxic to human life.
10:03 am
tuco
Also the changes in the past were over geologically long periods of time and not at the accelerated rates we see today. Not enough time for humanity to adapt.
10:12 am
tuco
There is already precedence of society doing something successfully to ameliorate the problem of atmospheric pollution on a global scale. SO2 and acid rain and CFC's and the Ozone layer
10:20 am
tuco
So you have to ask yourself. If what I just wrote is true, who would be against doing things to slow down or reverse what is happening? Obviously it must be those who are responsible and profit from the releasing of these pollutants into the biosphere.
10:27 am
drwho
But my point remains, all the carbon dioxide we are putting into the atmosphere today, is just putting back what the fossils removed in the past.
10:32 am
tuco
And was buried in the ground. Over eons. Part of the strategy to slow climate change is to leave the carbon in the ground.

I'm glad at least 1 person almost caught the humor in the statement the plants will suffocate. But there is a serious point. Global warming isn't the bad thing that you think it is. It allows more vegetation in the polar regions which could take care of the CO2 "problem". And don't worry Phil, the biggest increases in temperature occur in the polar regions if the planet warms.

to drwho - nothing important like CO2 or gun control issues. I was watching the ratio in 'Babble' the last 4 days(since the 6,548 game) and while I notice changes in the 'Crème Crop' column I have not seen any changes in the 'Hot' column?

drwho - Thank you for the acknowledgement. Fyi, I'm recouping with busted ribs & you did not help that, although it was the best laugh I had yesterday. I'm glad I went with my instincts & posted the knee-slapper thing. Other people might want to pay closer attention to you, how you say things.
