For a million years, CO2 was never above 280 ppm intil the 20th century. Mankind is about that old. So hatt is the relavance of CO2 levels 100's of million years ago? We could not veen have breathed then.

And drwho, it's not the arctic, its the antarctic melting that's the problem, but probably never mentioned on fox tv

Phil, does the ocean level rise and fall every year because of the melting of ice at the south pole? Or isn't that happening?

tuco
The ocean level will never rise when the SEA ice melts. It is the ice on the land masses of the Arctic and Antarctic that is the problem.

7000 ppm of CO2 in the atmosphere won't asphyxiate anyone.

Tuco, the sea level rose 8 inches in the last century. It appear we are now on pace for 12 inches or more for the next century. Anyone who can't take a step back deserves to drown.

Is that another "joke" drwho?

There are already plans to dam upstream rivers to ammeliorate sea level rise drwho. I hope if you live by one of those lakes in Minnesota that you can take a "step back"

Seriously, I don't believe any of the time scales I have quoted. Its just that that is what "science" tells us and what climate change advocates believe. I think a big dose of skepticism would be healthy.

Lake levels in Minnesota rise and fall too. Nobody has drowned because of it as far as I know.
9:06 am
tuco
Yes they do because of seasonal snow melt and evaporation during the summer but if the streams and rivers they feed are dammed.......
9:07 am
drwho
Minnesota nice doesn't allow any damming of streams and rivers. But maybe we can darn them.
