KT, is there a reason you're condescendingly explaining fourth grade civics class to me? When I explained things to people, it was because they asked questions; I have no idea why you think I don't know this.
But "Therefore is a majority of people in the country want a change, the method for change is available" is one of the funniest sentences I've read in a long time, so I guess you did give me that.

KT and not being a wise as either but you are aware of the 3/5ths compromise at the 1787 constitutional convention, no?

So, the electoral college was installed into our constitution at a.time when only white men who owned land could vote in 1789 in most states. It is an outdated vestige of our slavery past that subverts the will of the people.

If your argument is that no one complains when the electoral college goes your way. That is a little disingenuous. The support for it's survival comes from the rich and powerful who use it along with gerrymandering to control ballot outcomes. And yes, both parties are guilty. Get rid of it.

The Democratic party has a similar issue with their super delegates. However they just voted to scale back their role in presidential election. A start.

https://www.peo.gov.au/learning/fact-sheets/f\nederal-elections.html is the link if anyone fancies checking out the Australian voting system. Although more complicated than the British system, seems to also produce a representative and fair outcome.

Im guessing, but perhaps the Americans because of the situation with the British had to try something quite different. Might have worked well at the time, but it seems crazy now.

SJ - I apologize for sounding condescending - it was not my intent. TUCO - I reread my posts and cannot detect where I made any argument for or against the electoral college. And yes, I am aware of the 3/5 person travesty that is part of our history.
