Applying a business model to schools distorts the purpose. While capitalism is great in certain areas it is a lousy fit for education (and other things, like policing for one example).

Schools in Aus are a mix of public and private, but essentially the same amount of money is spent per child by the government with private schools able to charge fees supposedly to provide better opportunities, i.e. sports and drama and other extra curricular activities.

The results of course tend more to be on socio economic parallels, but often it's also because of a lack of parental support as parents both often work etc and often pressure on kids to leave school to assist in earning money for the family.

There are however great outcomes at most levels with young adults that question and are confident of problem solving.

Most state primary schools teach about all religions of the world, quite rightly as there are so many different cultures in our country it is only right they learn about respect for all.

Organised religion for the most part does well to stay out of politics and is still so far behind the times, its no wonder so many are staying away.

Outdated and to most, repugnant teachings of anti anyone who is different do not sit well with most Aussies. Let people be happy and productive members of a society that values all.
