Done with a guess. I couldn't find a wing or anything else. Maybe I'm just not awake enough yet.

9:40 am
UnikeTheHunter
Ready to make a productive looking guess. I'm almost sure it will work. Fingers crossed.
9:44 am
UnikeTheHunter
It did! Got it, greens and one pretty confident guess. Better than a shot in the dark.

12:16 pm
PuttPutt
458... 28...45..42
12:17 pm
PuttPutt
why does the 45 not become the hidden pair ?
12:18 pm
BeppyCute
think it does
12:19 pm
PuttPutt
no it does not, the 8 is out of box 458
12:19 pm
BeppyCute
u can remove that by default
12:23 pm
BeppyCute
wow... once i plugged the greens it went fast!
12:24 pm
PuttPutt

This lack of useful bivalue cells disturbs me.
1:19 pm
OrangeSlice
I do believe I've just found a death blossom.
1:36 pm
PuttPutt
Heres another instance I have 4 boxes 75...79...159...15 surely the 15 is a hidden pair but it dint work out
1:36 pm
OrangeSlice
You can't arbitrarily pull values to make pairs.
1:37 pm
parsec
Doesn't the 5 in the 75 rule that out?
1:37 pm
parsec
If it was 73...79...159...15, then yes. Because the one and five are unique to those two boxes.
1:38 pm
PuttPutt
ok maybe Im lost
1:39 pm

OrangeSlice
Reductions based on a weak-ended alternating inference chain led to a couple xy-wings, one xyz-wing, and some general scanning solved it after that.
2:05 pm
OrangeSlice
Puzzle solved :)

I started my chain with the lower cell of the 3/4 pair in the center box.

I can't remember having this much trouble with a puzzle in a loooong time. Started over twice now, keep making the same mistake--I think.
3:14 pm
OrangeSlice
I used some pretty advanced stuff to solve it; would be nice if someone finds an easier route.
3:17 pm
kittybat
The folks from earlier today didn't seem to have so much trouble with it. Sounds like they were working on a different puzzle than I've got here... ; )
3:18 pm
OrangeSlice
Probably Saturday's (I'm doing it now).
3:29 pm
kittybat
Ah, I think I found my mistake. Maybe it will go better now...

That was almost insanely easy once I saw my error.
4:19 pm
Zugzug7

4:26 pm
Zugzug7
