Scomo returned as PM in Aus. Fortunately a lot of the right wing candidates lost their seats, including former PM Tony Abbott. We had a rich Trump like billionaire spent $60 million trying to get elected but didn't win a seat anywhere. And the right wing One Nation are losing out too. Even the far left greens struggled a bit. Common sense and sensible middle ground the winners. Good old silent majority.

And our liberal party is way left of the US republicans. We already have a great medicare system, and probably the best superannuation system anywhere.

The problem I see is though Tuco, your two political parties are moving further away from each other, the language is frankly awful on both sides and you're actually headed towards conflict in a country where there's more guns than people. And you have a president who encourages conflict and thinks it's a great idea. What I don't get is why he actually is still liked by anyone. His base are losing their jobs because he thinks it's a great idea that China pays tariffs, problem is, obviously its the American people that pay the tariffs. Rest of the world has figured out tariffs and trade wars aren't a good idea, but hey, Trump thinks he knows best. I'm really saddened that thousands of young Americans will lose their lives, and probably hundreds of thousands of innocent people will also lose their lives because Trump will start a war when it becomes apparent his economic policies start to bite him on the bum. Of course he will just tweet more crass, verbose insulting garbage about good people.

We supported the US in Afghanistan and Iraq, but were burned by the fake intelligence pushed to justify WMDs. I'm not so sure, and I would hope we eouldn't blindly follow the US into the next one, particularly one of their own making.

How sad it is that some can't see the stone walling for what it is. If you have nothing to hide, why hide everything? If you really believe you have been exonerated, why won't you let anyone testify? 8201 this is not the media these are court/legal filings and a constitutional battle about executive power and congressional oversight.

It is a law that the IRS "shall furnish" the tax returns of anyone the chairman of the House Ways and Means committee. The administration refuses. This is obstruction and a complete slap in the face of the constitutions separation of powers. But then again not only was he a producer, Mnuchin also had a bit part in the movie, Rules don't Apply.

8201girl, I tend to trust the Australian Broadcasting Company, the British Broadcasting Company and SBS. Sadly I find it hard to trust what comes from the US as there seems to be too much spin left or right to form a balanced opinion. Reuters and CNN appear less biased. I steer well away from Fox and Sky. I enjoy programmes in Oz like Q & A where a cross section of the public ask difficult questions to politicians from all sides, business and social commentators too, moderated by a capable person who appears to not show bias. Not sure if you can get it online in the US, but worth a look. I'm not on twitter and facebook

KnightTime, I haven't figured out anything mate, but I'm glad we have the privilege of voting and choosing who represent us to make decisions on our behalf. I'm sad that so many don't think that its important. But with that privilege comes responsibility to not take democracy for granted. I think we should speak out when we think injustice and unfairness is being done to us and others. I offer comment because some may be interested in a moderate central leaning view from Australia. I wish there were similar views being expressed from around the world because I would love to hear what it's like for others. Sadly we always seem to hear from far left or far right which is a shame.
