He's not making an assumption, Penguin. He's taking it as an article of faith. The cognitive dissonance between "they're coming here because they're being lied to" and "they know exactly what's going to happen when they get here" has got to be painful.

Hell, even going down the "they know exactly what they're going to get when they come here," without taking it a half step further and asking then what they must be running from that makes this worth it, has got to be jarring.

KT's not stupid. He's just not thinking it through. And rather than think it through, he'll just start insisting that the things that are happening aren't really happening. He probably thinks I'm exaggerating or just outright lying about the frigid temperatures, not enough food, no showers or toothbrushes for weeks on end, the disease outbreaks, etc.

And in the meantime, we have toddlers left in the care of teen aged strangers sleeping on concrete floors with a single Mylar blanket, in temperatures that the reporters describe as "frigid." KT's faced with the choice of either disbelieving this entirely or accusing those who tell him exactly what he's defending are liars.

There are three kinds of people defending these camps right now: Those who honestly believe that the masses of eyewitnesses and judicial testimony and common stories that date back years are all lies, those who simply refuse to accept the truth, and people who are really, really happy that this is happening.

Trump 2020. Illegals are just that, illegal. Motives are immaterial. They know coming here is illegal and they make that choice. The consequences should be dire. For reference, go look at the penalties for being an illegal in Mexico. Perhaps, even go look into the limitations of being a legal immigrant in Mexico. They created their country, they should enjoy the fruits of their labor. If those fruits are not to their liking, then change them. Coming to another garden to plant those same fruits is just bad form.

kaosangel, you do know the history of America, right? As in, white refugees fleeing from Europe, coming here and driving out Native Americans & Mexicans? (Don't forget, most of the Southern states actually used to be part of Mexico.) The only difference was that my ancestors had COMPASSION, and rather than locking up white folks in concentration camps, they helped them survive. What do we get in return? Disease and genocide. THIS IS NOT YOUR ANCESTRAL LAND. If anything, the "illegals" you are referring to have more of a right to live here than you. Have some humility. Have some compassion. And read a book, for fucks sake.

I am not certain who died and made you moral arbiter of the universe but that has to be one of the most hateful, racist declarations I have ever read. If you have a "pure spirit" with that sort of indictment, then I am signing up for sainthood later today.

If "blood," i.e. the ethnic ancestry of a person, is the cause of evil and only those born of pure blood can determine what is moral, then we are doomed to fatalism because no matter how hard I try I will always be morally subservient to those of superior "blood."

I may be misinformed about immigration and no doubt I have biases, but on this I have to be right or I am nothing but trash because I did not bring myself into this world and I did not determine my ethnic makeup nor my sex.

Anger is a choice - no one "makes" another person angry. As far as the people in this forum, since I don't know any of them it would be immature to choose to be angry with them. Concerning Trump's motivations for his words and actions, you would have to ask him. I find it convenient to ignore most of what he says.

KnightTime, if you knew anything about racism you would understand that it's actually not possible to be racist against white people. Epigenetics is a real thing, the terrible things our ancestors did and have done to us is passed down through our blood. You can change yourself. I know plenty of decent, open-minded white folks. But in order to change, you first have to acknowledge the atrocities that lurk in the history of your people and how you continue to benefit from them today. You want to know who died and made me the moral arbiter of the universe? Millions of Native Americans. Millions of slaves who were lynched by--you guessed it--white people. The thousands of my people who are locked up in cages like animals. YOUR people have made me the moral arbiter of the universe by apparently having no morals. Although, I will admit that I shouldn't have written that statement like I'm completely perfect and haven't done bad things or my ancestors are totally innocent. But the difference is that I'm willing to acknowledge and rectify the mistakes I and my ancestors have made.

Well Dear Angelica - First of all you know nothing about me, my race, my gender, my ethnic heritage yet you are qualified to tell me what I think and how incorrect my very thoughts are. Further you know more about my ancestors, their acts, and their contribution to my racism than I do. Like I asked earlier, "Who died and made you god?" My suggestion on how you can improve the world is to look in the mirror and do everything you can to make the person looking back be better. It works for me, perhaps it will work for you. And btw - epigenetics is just another term for eugenics - you know the same "science" the Nazi's used to kill millions of people.
