There must be a technique used in mediums that I don't get...I find them waaay more difficult than hards

I hear ya - I struggle more on medium than hard and I have no idea why.

This one isn't too bad - I just had to keep an eye out for virtual crosshatching like Unike mentioned

IMO, most mediums here require one advanced solving technique to finish, but solvers usually spend more time using basic solving techniques first before moving on to advanced tech's. When a solver sees a "hard" puzzle, most automatically use advanced solving tech's which usually unlocks the rest of the puzzle. Hence solving time is longer when doing mediums.

that's a really good theory, actually

maybe I should rephrase that... Mediums seem more difficult because you spend more time wondering if you need to use an advanced tech rather than it was because you missed something. Meanwhile, when one solves a Hard puzzle, you assume that you need to use and advanced tech to solve it rather than missing an easy fill. There... hope that is a clearer explanation

either that or Dr. God just likes to mess with us... calls the hardest ones medium :)
