sweet. I got both yesterday's *and* todays...which just might put me on the 'who's hot' list :)
3:20 am
Krys10
two unique rectangles, but no intersections. it doesn't feel like it's *really* a "hard" unless it has intersections
4:34 am
Kukana
more of a medium than a hard
4:34 am
spreadeagle
This was an easy "hard"
4:39 am

starting now, lol
4:39 am

is it a fun one?

hi sprite!
4:39 am

I am a hero, I have done the shopping.
4:40 am
FranMag
not really hard at all, i used greens, but i also took a break to brush kids' teeth and vacuum the living room!
4:40 am
FranMag
looks like we've both been productive sprite!
4:40 am
sprite
I just looked at the chat and wondered what intersections are. I am sure I use them, just not knowing they are called that, LOL.
We are doing our best, aren't we, Fran :)
4:41 am
FranMag
well, that's all we can strive for sprite, to do our best. :-)
4:42 am
FranMag
i'll see you tomorrow night spritey! hope the rest of your day is good too!
4:42 am

when I have enough courage to get actually outside and into a store, I am proud of myself. Have a great day, Fran!

I believe intersections refer to what I call virtual cross-hatching. See:

Howdy Sprite.
4:45 am
sprite
ah, I see. Indeed I use those a lot, just didn't know they had a name :)
4:46 am
drwho
Yes, it's a very basic technique.
4:48 am
drwho
As for the name, there doesn't seem to be any agreement on what to call it. The scanraid site has 2 different names for variations on the same technique.
4:48 am
sprite
I am afraid most of the terminology is unknown to me. I just try and find the next number.
4:53 am
drwho
That's usually hard enough.
4:54 am
sprite
well, not for this one, indeed easy. But sometimes it is not good enough, lol... some experts make me guess, so I know there are techniques I lack.
4:54 am
sprite
Have a great day or night or whatever, all of you
4:55 am
drwho
You too, sprite.
5:10 am

Good morning. Indeed, a fair hard.

angieplumptit
lots of double reverses through the diaginal parameters.Responds well to Beinkoff's Theorem, however.
8:46 am
spellacked
OK angie... do you blow smoke daily, or is there really a list of esoteric techniques
8:59 am

got lazy, used greens, spotted the two easy pairs and it was all she wrote
9:36 am
icepick0053
ok, I guess I'm blind. How do you use greens?
9:37 am
drwho
Click an empty cell to get the number pad then hold shift when selecting a digit.
9:38 am
icepick0053
thanks
9:38 am
drwho
Hold down the Alt key when selecting a digit to get red.
9:39 am
icepick0053
awesome, that rocks
9:40 am
drwho
Most people only use green, but some use reds to highlight what they think is important.
9:41 am
yul
hello everybody
9:46 am
yul
what is the difficulty today drwho?
10:08 am
yul
made a mistake. starting over :(
10:39 am
yul
it was very easy a second time. no greens ever
10:40 am
dalebo
how do you "use reds"? I know the greens, but not the reds
10:42 am
gman
dalebo-- use Alt at the same time as the number to get "reds"
10:42 am
OrangeSlice
That's never worked for me.
10:45 am
yul
neither on my new machine
10:51 am

Dr who, do you think this one is mis-graded? I started out using greens on the theory that it was a hard one, but breezed along and solved in within ten minutes filling in greens manually. And I am not a particularly advanced sudoku player.
11:01 am
yul
yes compares to previous hard this one is walk in a park

i may have used greens but I didn't use the auto-fill
3:46 pm
Psycho_Puppy
How on earth do you use the auto-fill? I've never even heard of it. Doesn't it take the fun out of it?
3:52 pm
Psycho_Puppy
Done. No greens, but took about half an hour.
4:06 pm
brittlefish.com
autofill just automates the greens (and reds). it speeds the process a bit. it's a javascript ditty.

To Janet and others who were wondering, no today's is not misgraded. Hard means that you have to use hidden or naked pairs to solve it. Today's required hidden and naked pairs to solve. It still may be perceived as "easy", but technically it is a hard.
