The Pfizer vaccin was designed by the German company BioNTech. That is an unusual company to design a vaccin, because they specialised in personalized cancer treatments. But the owners - a married couple of second generation immigrants from Turkey - thought that their technolgy could produce a vaccin. Invested millions of their own money.

Now I saw recently US officals boasting how they developed this vaccin. But that is BS. Pfizer didnt get one dollar from the US administration. And the vaccin wasn't theirs either, they are god in large scale testing an production. The vaccine was designed in Germany.

Now let's look at the third vaccin that will probably be ready soon: Johnson&Johnson. Yes I think the US governement invested in that vaccin. But again it was not developed in the US but in fact in the Netherlands.J&J acquired a small company (Jansen Pharmaceutivals) in Leiden some 15 years ago. My daughter worked there as HR manager.

They developed a good Ebola-vaccin but that never hit the market when that did not become a pandemic. That technology is now used again.
