MrOoijer, I totally agree that some models are useful even though all models are ultimately wrong. I also agree that that a law may only be a fact within a certain model. That line of thinking is provocative. It reveals for example that sometime in the future we may develop a different model of the earths climate which may lead us to different solutions.

I had personal experience last year with an interactive computerized model which allows people who want to learn more about climate change to see for themselves the relative effectiveness of different approaches to controlling the rate of global warming. It was very interesting, especially because by the end of the 90 minute session some of the attendees clearly accepted the results from the model as indisputable facts, even though the model had been introduced as nothing more than a demonstration of how effective models can be in guiding our thinking.

Ive been catching up with past games on my phone. I stopped in 2007 so theres a lot! It was before chat turned to politics so I havent seen that yet. I was always so impressed people could finish without greens. And now I can too, because you cant green up on your phone. You cant post comments either, which is odd. There was one Expert I had to use my computer for and green up, but thats it. :

@TM - some 10 years ago I actually built some of those climate models. One interactive one, that shows the various influences on the climate, is still on-line at https://mrooijer.shinyapps.io/graphic/ . Read the introduction and then go to the tutorial. The dominant factor, of course, is CO2. That greenhouse gas exains about 75 of the chamge, combined with other factors it goes up to 85. What it also shows is that in contemporary science models get refined, not overthrown. The scientific method established mid 1800s works.

... explains and 75 should br 75 percent or 15/20. The 85 percent is 17/20.

@babbler - what happened to apostrophes. Haha, yeah we have been complaining about that lately. Also question marks.

A truly fascinating climate model, MrOoijer. Thank you for showing me. I think I understand everything except I do not seem to be able to view in the model the breakdown of CO2 into its components - greenhouse gases, etc. Did I miss something.
