@RandLS Those concerns were among the main reasons that the Berkeley Earth project was founded in 2010. The aim was to show that the then already existing temperaure series calculations were flawed. In that aspect they failed, even though they used advanced statistical methods and less assumptions than the competition. The value of the project is that it those new methods can also deliver detailed regional information. So it is still maintained and updated every month.
