I've only visited the airport in Las Vegas ... and I still lost money. (Slot machines in the bathrooms is ridiculous). It is the accidental trip that had me swear off gambling. I haven't even bought a lottery ticket in almost twenty years as a result.

Well, this weekend I have the enjoyable travel of graduation parties and graduation (tomorrow afternoon). I'm shepherding the first group of students through the ceremony.

Seems late for the school year to be ending

Wisconsin passed a law that school cannot begin until after Labor Day. So, we run later into June. We have to have 180 school days by law ... and the kids do need a break for Christmas and Easter. The tourist industry pushed and got the late start law. Now they are complaining that there aren't many kids available to work Memorial Day weekend. They should have left it to the school districts to decide when to start and end. Oh well.

While I'm neither a Republican nor a Democrat (I usually vote for the party that's out of power), I'm amused that it was a Republican legislature that ran on a small government platform that passed the late start law. I guess for them it is small government as long as it keeps the business community happy. Politicos are weird.
